Fr. Robinson's Message 11/30/25

Brothers and Sisters,

We begin a new liturgical year, Year A. The Catholic Church divides the liturgy into three years, each focusing on one of the Evangelists. During Year A, we will primarily read the Gospel of Matthew at Sunday Masses. Saint Matthew was one of Jesus' apostles, the tax collector whom Jesus called to follow him, and who, leaving everything, followed him. May this new liturgical year continue to help us increase our love for Christ and for others.

We also begin the Advent season. We will gradually prepare ourselves to celebrate and meditate on the great mystery of the Nativity of the Lord, the God who draws near to humanity, becoming one of us. This Advent season can be of great spiritual help if we allow the Lord to work in our hearts, especially accompanied by the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of the Savior of the world. With her, let us await the coming of Christ with anticipation and peace.

I encourage you to participate in the events we have prepared for this season. This year, we wanted to create some weekly reflection groups. As you can see on the cover of the bulletin, we have groups available in both Spanish and English at different times. I hope you can participate during these four weeks of Advent. The groups will reflect on the Sunday readings. It will also be a wonderful opportunity to support one another as parishioners. I thank Deacon Roberto for facilitating these reflections.

The Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe begins on December 3rd. I invite you to check the schedule. The Rosary is usually at 6:20 pm and Mass at 7 pm, with some exceptions. Let us come together to honor our Heavenly Mother, especially during this Advent season.

A special thank you to all the ministers and volunteers in our parish community. I especially thank our parishioners who lead and serve at the food pantry. In recent weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of families who have come to request food. Thank you to all our parishioners for your contributions to the food pantry. If anyone needs food assistance, please let them know that our pantry is available to help, please contact the Food Pantry at 708-371-4621 or the Parish Office.

Hermanos y Hermanas,

Comenzamos un nuevo año litúrgico, el año A. La Iglesia Católica divide la liturgia en tres años, en los cuales no enfocamos en uno de los evangelistas. Durante el año A vamos a leer sobre todo el evangelio de Mateo en las misas dominicales. San Mateo fue uno de los apóstoles de Jesús, quien fue el cobrador de impuestos a quien Jesús llamó a seguirlo, y dejándolo todo, lo siguió. Que este nuevo año litúrgico nos siga ayudando a acrecentar nuestro amor por Cristo y por los demás.

Comenzamos también la temporada del Adviento. Nos vamos a ir preparando poco a poco para celebrar y meditar en el gran misterio de la Natividad del Señor, el Dios que se acerca al ser humano, haciéndose uno de nosotros. Esta temporada de Adviento puede ser de gran ayuda espiritual si dejamos que el Señor vaya actuando en nuestro corazón, especialmente acompañados de la Santísima Virgen María, la Madre del Salvador del mundo. Con ella esperemos ansiosos y en paz la venida de Cristo.

Los animo a participar en los eventos que hemos preparado durante esta temporada. Este año hemos querido crear algunos grupos de reflexión semanal. Como pueden ver en la portada del boletín, tenemos disponibles algunos grupos en español y en inglés en distintos horarios. Ojalá puedan participar estas cuatro semanas de Adviento. Se trata de reflexionar acerca de las lecturas del domingo. Será una bonita oportunidad también para acompañarse mutuamente como parroquianos. Agradezco al Diácono Roberto por facilitar estas reflexiones.

El 3 de diciembre comienza la Novena a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Los invito para que revisen el horario. Usualmente el Rosario será a las 6:20 pm y la Misa a las 7 pm, con algunas excepciones. Juntémonos para honrar a nuestra Madre del Cielo, especialmente en esta temporada de Adviento.

Un agradecimiento especial a todos los ministros y voluntarios en nuestra comunidad parroquial. De manera particular agradezco a nuestros parroquianos que lideran y sirven la despensa de alimentos. En estas últimas semanas se ha visto un incremento en el número de familias que han venido a solicitar alimentos. Gracias a todos nuestros parroquianos por sus contribuciones a la despensa. Si alguien necesita ayuda de comida, por favor comuníquense con San Vicente de Paul al 708-371-4621 o con la Oficina Parroquial.
