Fr. Robinson's Message 4/19/26

Brothers and Sisters,

As you can see on the cover of our bulletin, Pope Leo XIV visited this past week the country of Algeria, the birthplace of our patron saint, Saint Augustine. This visit has been a source of great joy for our entire parish community, as it invites us to remember our spiritual roots and the profound heritage of faith we have received from one of the great Fathers of the Church.

During his journey, the Holy Father emphasized the importance of dialogue, reconciliation, and the search for truth—values that deeply shaped the life and thought of Saint Augustine. In his visit to the region where ancient Hippo was once located, the Pope recalled the saint’s powerful witness of conversion and total dedication to God.

For our Parish of Saint Augustine, this event holds special meaning. It draws us closer to the living history of the Church and encourages us to follow the example of our patron: a restless heart that finds its rest only in God. May this visit inspire us to renew our faith and our Christian commitment.

Hermanos y Hermanas,

Como pueden ver en la portada de nuestro boletín, el Papa León XIV visitó esta semana pasada el país de Argelia, el país natal de nuestro santo patrono San Agustín. Esta visita ha sido motivo de gran alegría para toda nuestra comunidad parroquial, pues nos invita a recordar nuestras raíces espirituales y la profunda herencia de fe que recibimos de uno de los grandes Padres de la Iglesia.

Durante su viaje, el Santo Padre destacó la importancia del diálogo, la reconciliación y la búsqueda de la verdad, valores que marcaron profundamente la vida y el pensamiento de San Agustín. En su paso por la región donde antiguamente se encontraba Hipona, el Papa recordó el testimonio de conversión y entrega total a Dios que caracterizó al santo.

Para nuestra parroquia de San Agustín, este acontecimiento tiene un significado especial. Nos une más estrechamente con la historia viva de la Iglesia y nos anima a seguir el ejemplo de nuestro patrono: un corazón inquieto que solo descansa en Dios. Que esta visita nos inspire a renovar nuestra fe y compromiso cristiano.
