Fr. Robinson's Message 6/8/25

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This weekend we celebrate Pentecost Sunday. We find ourselves at a beautiful moment in the early Christian community. When they were gathered together, the Holy Spirit descended upon each of them. They received an impressive strength that led many of them to give their own lives to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ to all nations. This same Holy Spirit has been given to each of us at many moments of our Christian life: at baptism, at confirmation, in our prayer, at the Eucharist, at community gatherings, etc. The Holy Spirit is God. And He inspires us, moves us, enlightens us, sanctifies us, strengthens us, renews us, motivates us, and compels us yesterday, today, and tomorrow to proclaim the Good News to everyone we meet, whether through our words or—much more effectively—through our actions and consistent Christian life.

On this wonderful day, I want to give special thanks to all our parishioners who are part of a particular ministry at St. Augustine Parish. Thank you for having listened to the voice of God who has called you to serve him in the ecclesial community. You have acted upon the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which has motivated you to follow Christ and bear witness to him through a life of service. Do not underestimate the gift God has given you. Your talents and charisms are for the service of the entire Christian community. The Holy Spirit is not given for selfish benefit, but for effective benefit in the church. Therefore, I thank God for every parishioner who serves in our community. May almighty God continue to bless and accompany you and your families. May the Holy Spirit constantly rekindle in your hearts the love of God and the fervent desire to go out of yourselves to encounter the Beloved, who awaits you in every person who crosses the doors of our parish, seeking that source of living water, who gives himself on a cross and gives us his Body and Blood.

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,

Este fin de semana celebramos el Domingo de Pentecostés. Nos encontramos en un momento hermosísimo de la primera comunidad cristiana. Cuando se encontraban reunidos, el Espíritu Santo se posó sobre cada uno de ellos. Recibieron una fortaleza impresionante que llevó a muchos de ellos hasta a dar su propia vida por anunciar el nombre de Jesucristo a todas las naciones. Este mismo Espíritu Santo se nos ha dado a cada uno de nosotros en muchos momentos de nuestra vida cristiana: en el bautismo, en la confirmación, en nuestra oración, en la Eucaristía, en la reunión de la comunidad, etc. El Espíritu Santo es Dios. Y Él nos inspira, nos mueve, nos ilumina, nos santifica, nos fortalece, nos renueva, nos motiva y nos compele ayer, hoy, y mañana a anunciar la Buena Nueva a todo aquel con quien nos encontremos, sea ya con nuestras palabras o -mucho más efectivo- con nuestras acciones y vida cristiana coherente.

En este maravilloso día quiero agradecer de manera especial a todos nuestros parroquianos que hacen parte de algún ministerio particular en la Parroquia San Agustín. Gracias por haber escuchado la voz de Dios que los ha llamado a servirlo en la comunidad eclesial. Ustedes han actuado sobre la inspiración del Espíritu Santo que los ha motivado a seguir a Cristo y a testimoniarlo a través de una vida de servicio. No menosprecien el don que Dios les ha dado. Sus talentos y carismas son para el servicio de toda la comunidad cristiana. El Espíritu Santo no se da para un beneficio egoísta, sino para el provecho eficaz en la iglesia. Por lo tanto, doy gracias a Dios por cada parroquiano que sirve en nuestra comunidad. Que Dios todopoderoso los siga bendiciendo y acompañando a ustedes y a sus familias. Que el Espíritu Santo contantemente reencienda en su corazón el amor de Dios y el deseo ferviente de salir de sí mismos para ir al encuentro del Amado, quien los espera en cada persona que cruza las puertas de nuestra parroquia buscando esa fuente de agua viva que se dona en una cruz y nos da su Cuerpo y su Sangre.
