Dear brothers and sisters,
This Sunday we celebrate the Sixth World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, established to recognize the gift that our grandparents and older adults are for our families and for the Church. This year’s theme, taken from the words of the prophet Isaiah, is: “I will never forget you” (Is 49:15).
In his message for this World Day, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that God never forgets any of His children. He has engraved our faces on the palms of His hands, and His love is greater than a mother’s love for her child. These words are especially meaningful for many elderly people who may experience loneliness or feel forgotten. The Holy Father invites us to remind them, through our presence and affection, that they have an important place in our families and in our community.
This World Day is therefore also a concrete invitation to all of us: visit our grandparents and elderly family members; call them, listen to them, and accompany them. Let us also remember those who live alone or have no one to visit them. As Pope Leo reminds us, it is never too late to turn to God, renew our faith, or discover that even in old age and fragility, we remain beloved children of God and are still called to a mission. Read the full Pope's message here.
This Tuesday, our Religious Education program also begins. This year, we will have more than 400 students in our various levels of formation, including children and young people preparing to receive their First Communion and Confirmation. I want to express my sincere gratitude to our Religious Education staff, all of our catechists, and the many volunteers who generously give their time to accompany our children and young people on their journey of faith.
At the same time, I renew my invitation to all parishioners to support our Religious Education program. One very practical way to help is by volunteering as parking lot assistants during Religious Education evenings. Although this may seem like a simple task, it is an important service that helps our program operate safely and smoothly. Contact us to volunteer.
Our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program also begins this week. Through OCIA, we accompany adults who wish to learn about and embrace the Catholic faith. If you are over 18 and would like to become Catholic, or if you are Catholic and still need to receive your First Communion or Confirmation, we invite you to register through our parish website. We want to walk with you and accompany you throughout this beautiful journey of faith. Register here.
Finally, this weekend we begin our 6 PM Sunday Bilingual Mass. I hope this celebration will be an opportunity to bring more members of our parish community together and to grow in our life of faith. I especially invite those who will regularly attend this Mass to consider sharing your gifts by serving as lectors, altar servers, ushers, or Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. A living community needs the participation of everyone.
May the Lord bless our grandparents and all our elderly members; bless our children, young people, and adults who are growing in faith; and bless all those who generously serve our parish. I wish you all a blessed and wonderful week.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Y no olvidemos a quienes viven solos o no reciben visitas.
