Dear brothers and sisters,
This weekend, we have several important reasons to give thanks to God and to renew our commitment to the life and mission of the Church.
On Thursday, September 24, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen will be beatified in St. Louis. Beatification is an important step closer to sainthood, through which the Church declares a person “Blessed” and recognizes their holiness and intercession. We give thanks to God for Archbishop Sheen’s life and witness, and we pray that his example may continue to inspire us to live our faith with courage, wisdom, and love. I encourage you to learn more about his life and ministry and to ask for his intercession. Click here for more information.
This weekend we also take up our Seminary Collection. I invite you to support the important work of our seminaries in forming and preparing our future priests. Your generosity helps provide the education, spiritual formation, and pastoral preparation that our seminarians need as they discern and prepare to serve God's people. Please place your donation in the black boxes in the church. Thank you for your generosity and for your continued support of vocations. Let us also continue to pray that the Lord will call many more young men to the priesthood and that He will bless all those discerning a vocation to marriage, consecrated life, and other forms of Christian service. Click here to donate.
Finally, this Sunday we celebrate Catechetical Sunday, a beautiful opportunity to recognize and give thanks for all those who dedicate their time and hearts to sharing the Catholic faith with others. I am especially grateful to all those who serve in our Religious Education program. Week after week, our catechists generously give of their time to teach, accompany, encourage, and pray with our children and young people.
But catechesis is not limited to the classroom. The first and most important place where faith is taught is the home. I thank all the parents and families who make the faith a part of their daily lives and who strive to pass it on to their children. I am also grateful to our teachers and staff in our parish school, as well as to all those who teach and share the faith through our various religious education programs and ministries.
May the Lord bless all our catechists, teachers, parents, and families. May He strengthen them in their mission and give them the wisdom, patience, and joy they need to form the hearts of the next generation.
As we celebrate these occasions together, may we remember that the future of the Church depends upon our willingness to pray for vocations, support the formation of future priests, and faithfully pass on the treasure of our Catholic faith. May the Lord continue to bless our parish and raise up from among us many generous disciples who will serve Him and His Church.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
